Collection: Versi-Clip

This autoclavable silicone jewelry clip was developed after years of  frustration resulting from plastic clips that not only break easily, but cause surface damage on softer metals and quite simply, look terribly cheap.  The Versi-clip works with existing jewelry displays that are drilled with ⅛” (3.2mm) holes.

The Versi-Clip is made of a semi-rigid silicone that we had specially formulated to be pliable, yet still firm enough to grip jewelry nicely.  We created a design that is much more streamlined and visually appealing in comparison to its predecessor as to compliment the jewelry, not detract from it.  You will notice the Versi-Clip has a completely different “feel” when inserting jewelry. While you will notice the jewelry settling in to the channel grooves, it will seem as though it is not very secure, however, this is not the case.  The characteristics of the silicone create more of a grip than it appears. We have inserted 14g and 12g curves in the clips and vigorously shook, jerked and swung the displays to test the security of attachment and lost no jewelry in the process.

Here are a few observations we have made in testing:

At higher temperatures (over 90℉), the silicone becomes more pliable which results in a hold not as secure as in a normal studio environment, until back to normal indoor temperatures.  This is not really noticeable in 14g-10g, but may be 16g.

The Versi-Clip is ideal for the display of several gauges and styles of jewelry ranging from 16g to 10g.  For 16g jewelry, most rings, circular barbells and curved barbells are held nicely, however 16g jewelry with a straight post is not supported in the same secure manner as a curved or circular post, as the arc creates a larger diameter area for a more secure hold.

When utilizing a Versi-Clip for jewelry 14g and larger and switching to a 16g piece, allow the clip to rest for a short period of time to allow it to return to the original opening diameter.  We have also found that simply pinching the opening together works as well for those of us who have no patience.

When the post of the Versi-Clip is forced into a hole with a diameter smaller than the standard 3.2mm, it is possible for the post to break.  While we don’t foresee this happening, we wanted to note it. It took a lot of force to make this happen, but again, we felt it was worth a mention.
